Sunday Shopping report - Sephora, VS, and more!

After a hard workout this morning, R. and I went for some tasty Indian food at Royal India we decided to hit up Regency Square mall. Lots of changes afoot there!

First off, I swung through Bath and Body Works but still no Pecan 3-in-1. They said they were already out! It must be great if it sold out that fast.

Downstairs, I got to check out the new Victoria's Secret VERY SEXY line of makeup. I was overall very impressed with the line. The luxe packaging is durable and really well proportioned. I love the glossy black lipstick tubes that are similar to those in Kevyn Aucoin's line. The concealers and foundations had a wide range of neutral colors and those with darker skintones should definitely take a look. The lipbalm had a texture very similar to that of Fresh's Lemon Sugar balm, but a much nicer price point. The lipstick mosaics are deceptive - they look like a powder product but are actually a thick cream with lots of shimmer. I'm not sure how great this would look after a bit of use, but on the shelf it looked very pretty and portable.

Lipstick and Lipgloss junkies shouldn't be disappointed, at least in the color options. The lipgloss has a nice texture but a brush applicator similar to Bobbi Brown's that is bound to splay, fray, or otherwise disintegrate. I much, much prefer a doe-foot applicator like that in most lipgloss including MAC's famous lipglass. I think I'd pick the Sheer Moisture Lipstick, although it comes in far fewer colors.

I was there to check out the aforementioned liquid liner pen. I tried it out on my hand, and was very pleased with the opacity and color. The gel liner duos, however, were not very exciting. The texture was actually much more cream than gel, and hadn't set after 5 minutes time (after which it began to smudge). The colors are nice, but I would recommend Bobbi Brown, Stila, or MAC's versions first. After waiting in line for too, too long, I finally purchased only the liquid liner.

Sephora has changed a LOT since I visited last. There's several new or expanded brands. New additions include Make Up For Ever, Clarins, L'Occitane, and Clinique (as if you can't find THAT in at least 3 other stores in the mall), as well as several new fragrances. Fresh's entire makeup line has a small spot on a side wall.

Definitely the highlight of the trip to Sephora was the LORAC Snake Charmer Palette. Although the outside screams Gotti, the inside is a subtle, shimmery palette of 4 neutral eyeshadows and a pretty terracotta/peachy blush.

I was drooling over Philosophy's new set of 3-in-1's, the Breakfast Favorites. Sweet Cream, Blackberry Syrup and Belgian Waffles all smell very lovely and true to their names.

Target also had a lot of new offerings, including Sonia Kashuk's new Tools, a black-handled, upscale version of her already very lovely makeup brushes. I couldn't quite pin down the difference, but the contoured, ergonomic lines would look great in anyone's brush roll.
